ADRsäännöstö refers to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. This international treaty aims to standardize and regulate the transportation of hazardous materials across borders by road within participating countries. The agreement establishes safety measures and procedures to minimize risks associated with the transport of dangerous goods, thereby protecting people, property, and the environment.

The ADR covers a wide range of aspects related to the carriage of dangerous goods. This includes requirements for vehicle construction and equipment, driver training and certification, packaging standards, labeling and placarding of vehicles and packages, and documentation that must accompany shipments. It categorizes dangerous goods into nine classes based on their inherent hazards, such as explosives, flammable liquids, corrosive substances, and radioactive materials.

Implementation of the ADR is mandatory for all signatory countries. This means that any transport of dangerous goods by road originating in, passing through, or terminating in an ADR-compliant country must adhere to its provisions. The agreement is regularly updated to incorporate new scientific knowledge and technological advancements to enhance safety.
