ACsensorer

AC-sensorer are sensors designed to monitor quantities in alternating-current systems. They provide galvanic isolation between the high-voltage side and the measurement electronics and typically convert current, voltage, or derived power quantities into a safe, proportional signal for data acquisition and control.

Current sensors detect AC current and are commonly based on current transformers, Hall-effect devices, or Rogowski coils. Current transformers offer strong isolation and are suitable for high currents, Hall-effect sensors can measure both AC and DC components, and Rogowski coils are flexible and well-suited for wide bandwidths and non-saturating measurement in dynamic systems. Voltage sensors include potential transformers, high-voltage dividers, and opto-isolated circuits that scale down line voltages to levels appropriate for ADCs.

Some sensors and modules measure both current and voltage to provide power-related metrics such as apparent power, active power, reactive power, power factor, and frequency. These are typical components of electrical meters, motor controllers, inverters in renewable energy installations, and smart-grid applications.

Key considerations for AC-sensorer include isolation voltage, measurement bandwidth, accuracy class, and the ability to handle harmonics and waveform distortions. True RMS capability, temperature stability, electromagnetic interference sensitivity, and calibration traceability are important for reliable operation. In practical use, AC-sensor signals are usually conditioned to safe voltage ranges and interfaced to microcontrollers or digital systems through ADCs and isolators.
