It was first observed on 11 January 2000 by the Lincoln Near‑Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) survey at the Lincoln Laboratory Experimental Test Site in Socorro, New Mexico. The provisional designation of the asteroid was 2000 AE, and following its orbit determination, it received its permanent number 78395 by the Minor Planet Center in 2002.

The asteroid follows a typical Main Belt orbit with a semi‑major axis of 2.61 astronomical units, eccentricity of 0.12, and an orbital period of approximately 4.18 years. Its inclination relative to the ecliptic is 9.8°. Diameter estimates based on an absolute magnitude of 15.3 and assumed albedo of 0.15 yield a size of about 5 kilometers. No rotational lightcurve data are currently available, so the spin axis and rotation period remain unknown.
