2-Aminothiophenol, also known as 2-mercaptoaniline or o-aminothiophenol, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H4(NH2)SH. It is a derivative of aniline where a thiol group is substituted at the ortho position to the amino group. This compound is a colorless liquid or crystalline solid at room temperature, depending on purity, and possesses a characteristic, strong odor.

It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds, particularly benzothiazoles, which find applications in pharmaceuticals, dyes, and rubber vulcanization accelerators.
