27gauge
27 gauge, denoted 27G, is a size designation used primarily for fine hypodermic needles. In needle gauge systems, a higher gauge number indicates a thinner needle. Compared with mid-range gauges such as 23G or 25G, a 27G needle is finer, though it is thicker than the very fine 29G–31G needles used for certain insulin or cosmetic applications. The 27G size is commonly chosen when a small puncture and reduced tissue trauma are desired, such as for intradermal tests, subcutaneous injections with small volumes, and some pediatric injections. It can also be used for fine-needle aspiration procedures depending on the clinician’s preference and the equipment available.
