ínyátültetés, also known as gingival grafting or gum grafting, is a periodontal surgical procedure designed to restore lost gum tissue or cover exposed tooth roots. It is commonly performed to address conditions such as gum recession, where the gum line has receded, exposing the sensitive root surfaces of the teeth. This recession can lead to tooth sensitivity, increased risk of decay, and aesthetic concerns.

The procedure typically involves harvesting a small piece of tissue, most commonly from the roof of the mouth (palate), and then attaching it to the area where gum tissue is deficient. There are several types of gingival grafts, including connective tissue grafts, where a piece of tissue is taken from under the surface layer of the palate, and free gingival grafts, where a small amount of the surface layer of the palate is removed. In some cases, tissue may also be donated or taken from another area of the patient's mouth.

The graft is then carefully sutured into place to cover the exposed root. The goal is to encourage the blood supply from the surrounding tissues to integrate with the graft, allowing it to become a permanent part of the gum line. Recovery typically involves some discomfort, swelling, and dietary restrictions for a period.
