évènements
Évènements is the plural form of the French noun évènement, which in mathematics and statistics refers to a set of outcomes of a random experiment. In probability theory, the sample space or univers of all possible results contains events as its subsets. An event can be simple (a single outcome) or compound (a combination of outcomes, achieved through unions, intersections or complements). The probability of an event is a numerical value between 0 and 1 assigned by a probability measure, and standard rules govern the relationships between events, such as the additivity of disjoint events and the use of conditional probabilities.
In everyday French, évènement denotes an occurrence or happening. It is also used to describe organized occasions
Spelling notes: the standard modern plural is évènements? or événements? Contemporary usage most commonly prefers événements.
