The allative marks direction toward something, so érteleméhez can be read as “to the understanding” or “toward understanding.” In standard usage the most common allative form of értelem is értelemhez, but érteleméhez appears in some contexts—especially in literary or philosophical writing—where a linking vowel is added to ease pronunciation or to emphasize the cognitive target.
