Ääniäaltoihin refers to sound waves in Finnish. Sound waves are mechanical waves that travel through a medium, such as air, water, or solids, by causing vibrations in the particles of that medium. These vibrations propagate outwards from the source of the sound, carrying energy. The speed of sound depends on the properties of the medium, such as its density and elasticity. For example, sound travels faster in solids than in liquids, and faster in liquids than in gases.
