államból

államból is the ablative case form of állam, the Hungarian word for state or country in a political sense. It marks origin or source and answers questions such as “from where?” when the source is the state.

Formation and usage: The suffix -ból attaches to the stem állam to form államból; due to consonant assimilation the result is an mb cluster. It is used to indicate movement from or source related to the state, often with verbs of origin or with nouns describing information, money, or documents. For example, államból származó adatok means “data originating from the state,” and államból érkező információk means “information coming from the state.”

Examples:

- A pénz az államból származik. (The money comes from the state.)

- Az államból érkező közlemény szerint… (According to the statement coming from the state…)

- Az államból származó adatok megbízhatóak. (The data originating from the state are reliable.)

Notes: Hungarian also uses other ablative forms for different places, such as országból for “from the country” or városból for “from the city.” The form államból contrasts with államba (into the state) and áll a m b an (in the state). In everyday language, országhoz és ország (country) are often used interchangeably with állam in formal contexts, but állam emphasizes the political-jurisdictional sense.
