Ülestõstmiseks, also known as the Estonian Uprising, was a significant event in the history of Estonia, occurring in 1918 and 1919. It was a period of armed resistance against the Bolshevik Red Army, which had occupied Estonia following the Russian Revolution. The uprising was primarily led by the Estonian Army, which had been formed in 1918 and was composed of volunteers.

The uprising began in January 1918, with the Estonian Army launching attacks against the Red Army. The initial goal was to drive out the Bolsheviks and restore Estonia's independence, which had been lost during World War I. The Estonian Army was successful in pushing back the Red Army, and by February 1918, Estonia was largely free from Bolshevik control.

However, the situation changed in the spring of 1919, when the Red Army launched a major offensive. The Estonian Army was outnumbered and outgunned, and many of its soldiers were poorly equipped and trained. Despite these challenges, the Estonian Army continued to fight, but it became clear that they could not hold out against the Red Army indefinitely.

In June 1919, the Estonian government signed the Treaty of Tartu with the Soviet Russia, which recognized the independence of Estonia. This treaty effectively ended the uprising, as the Red Army withdrew from Estonia.
