Úthafshryggnum
Úthafshryggnum, a term of Icelandic origin, translates to "mid-ocean ridge" in English. These are underwater mountain ranges, formed by plate tectonics. They are the longest mountain ranges on Earth, spanning approximately 65,000 kilometers (40,390 miles) across the globe. The formation of úthafshryggnum occurs at divergent plate boundaries, where tectonic plates are moving apart. As the plates separate, magma from the Earth's mantle rises to the surface, cools, and solidifies, creating new oceanic crust.
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is perhaps the most famous example of an úthafshryggnum. It runs down the center
