Újjrafeldolgozás, often translated as recycling, is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. This process is essential for environmental conservation and resource management. It involves collecting, sorting, processing, and manufacturing waste into usable products. Common materials that are recycled include paper, plastic, glass, and metal. The goal of recycling is to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, conserve natural resources, and minimize pollution.

The recycling process typically begins with collection, where waste is separated from general trash and gathered at designated collection points or through curbside pickup programs. Once collected, the materials are transported to a recycling facility. Here, they undergo sorting to separate different types of materials, such as different plastic resin codes or colors of glass. After sorting, the materials are cleaned and processed. This can involve shredding, melting, or pulping depending on the material. Finally, the processed materials are used as raw materials to manufacture new products.

Recycling offers numerous benefits. It significantly reduces the need to extract virgin resources, which in turn lessens habitat destruction and energy consumption associated with mining, logging, and drilling.
