Åsnen

Åsnen is a lake in southern Sweden, located in Kronoberg County. Most of the lake lies within the municipalities of Tingsryd and Ljungby, and it is a prominent feature of the Småland landscape.

Geography and hydrology: Åsnen has an irregular shape with numerous islands and a long, varied shoreline. It receives inflows from local streams and drains via outflows that connect to the regional inland-water system.

Ecology and protection: The lake supports diverse habitats—forested shores, wetlands and open water—home to a range of fish and bird species. In the surrounding area is Åsnens nationalpark, which protects parts of the lake and its landscapes.
