Ärsyketyyppiin, often translated as "stimulus type," refers to the classification of sensory inputs based on their nature and how they are detected. In psychology and neuroscience, understanding different ärsyketyyppejä is fundamental to comprehending perception and the nervous system's processing of external and internal information.

Broadly, stimuli can be categorized by the sensory modality they engage.
