One common scenario involves individuals who were baptized as infants in one Christian tradition and later, as adults, decide to convert to a different denomination or express a personal commitment to their faith. In some cases, the new denomination may require a full baptism as a sign of their new allegiance and understanding of the sacrament. This is particularly true when the first baptism was performed using a method or with a theological understanding that differs from the new tradition.

Another reason for átkereszteléssel might arise if there is doubt about the validity of the original baptism, such as questions about the minister's authority, the correct form of the rite, or the sincerity of the faith at the time.
