zákonov
Zákonov is the genitive plural form of zákon, the Slovak word for a law or statute. In Slovak, a zákon is a formal legal rule enacted by a legislative body and binding on individuals and institutions. The genitive plural zákonov is used when referring to “of the laws” or when a noun governs in the genitive, for example: obsah zákonov (the content of the laws) and dodržiavanie zákonov (compliance with the laws). The phrase novely zákonov denotes amendments to laws. Etymologically, zákon derives from Proto-Slavic and has cognates in related Slavic languages; the modern Slovak form zákonov follows standard masculine noun inflection.
In the legal system, laws are primary sources of law, alongside the constitution and international treaties.
