Zhurmimit is a fictional mineral described in speculative geology and worldbuilding literature. It is depicted as a rare hybrid silicate with distinctive optical effects, making it a focal point in both technology and culture within its imagined setting.

The name zhurmimit comes from the Zhuran language of the eastern archipelago where the mineral is said to form. In Zhuran, zhurm means light and mit denotes stone, a naming convention that reflects the mineral's luminescent properties.

Zhurmimit crystallizes in a hexagonal system, forming prismatic crystals up to a few centimeters long. It is typically colorless to pale blue, with a vitreous to pearly luster. Reported properties include Mohs hardness around 6.5, a density of 3.2–3.6 g/cm3, and a refractive index of 1.58–1.62; it exhibits notable birefringence under polarized light.

The mineral is described as forming in high-temperature hydrothermal veins associated with volcanism in the fictional Zhuran archipelago. It is mined using conventional hard-rock methods and requires careful handling due to its crystal habit. In some narratives, deposits are small but highly concentrated, enabling both artisanal and commercial mining.

In-universe uses center on its optical and semiconducting characteristics. Zhurmimit is proposed for high-efficiency photovoltaic cells and nonlinear optics components, and it also serves as a ceremonial gemstone in Zhuran culture, where polishing and setting are performed with ritual significance.
