yhdessä

Yhdessä is a Finnish adverb meaning "together" in the sense of being in the same place, sharing an activity, or acting cooperatively. It is used to indicate joint action or a shared state and can describe both physical proximity and collaborative effort. Common constructions include mennään yhdessä (let's go together), teemme tämän yhdessä (we will do this together), and lapset leikkivät yhdessä (the children are playing together). It contrasts with yksin (alone).

Grammatically, yhdessä is invariable and functions with verbs rather than forming a noun phrase on its own. It often appears with other words to emphasize inclusion, for example "yhdessä muiden kanssa" (together with others). In written Finnish it is normally lowercase unless at the start of a sentence or in a title.

In everyday usage, yhdessä is frequent in education, media, and community contexts to express solidarity, teamwork, or joint responsibility. It also appears in slogans and public discourse to underscore cooperative action and communal effort.
