xCHM

xCHM is a free, open-source CHM (Compiled HTML Help) file viewer for Unix-like systems. It provides a compact graphical interface for reading CHM help files by using the CHMLIB library to interpret the CHM format. Implemented as a GTK+ application, xCHM aims to be lightweight and fast, suitable for offline access to technical documentation and manuals.

Its interface includes a navigation pane with the table of contents, an index, and bookmarks, plus a main reading pane for the HTML content. Users can navigate by clicking hyperlinks, jump to topics via the contents tree or index, and search text within the document. Additional features typically include printing, and options to extract the CHM's HTML content to a directory on disk.

xCHM runs on Linux and other Unix-like platforms that support the X Window System. It relies on the CHMLIB library for CHM parsing and on GTK+ for the user interface. The program is commonly available through many distribution package managers or can be built from source.
