x35
X-35 is the designation most commonly associated with Lockheed Martin's flight demonstrator for the United States Joint Strike Fighter program. Built as Lockheed's entry against Boeing's X-32, the X-35 was designed to demonstrate a stealthy, multirole fighter capable of fulfilling Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps requirements. The program included advanced propulsion, avionics, and sensor fusion, and the design sought to provide carrier suitability as well as STOVL capabilities. After evaluation, the X-35 was selected as the winner of the JSF competition and was redesigned as the F-35 Lightning II. The production version is fielded in three main variants: the F-35A (conventional takeoff and landing), the F-35B (short takeoff and vertical landing), and the F-35C (carrier-based). The X-35/F-35 program is notable for its international collaboration and for its emphasis on stealth, data networking, and interoperability with allied forces.
