Wentylacj is not a standard term in Polish or English and is typically a misspelling or truncation of the word wentylacja, which means ventilation. This article discusses the concept of ventilation and its practical aspects.

Ventilation is the process of exchanging indoor air with outdoor air to control temperature, humidity, odours, contaminants, and carbon dioxide levels. Proper ventilation supports indoor air quality, reduces moisture buildup, and helps prevent health issues related to poor air.

There are several approaches to ventilation. Natural ventilation relies on openings such as windows and vents and is driven by wind pressure and temperature differences (stack effect). Mechanical ventilation uses fans and ductwork to move air; it can be passive, active, or a combination. Mechanical systems are often designed as balanced, where supply and exhaust air are equal, or exhaust/ supply-driven with humidity and CO2 control.

Key components include ducts, supply and return vents, air handling units, filters, and control systems. Energy efficiency may be enhanced with heat recovery devices (HRV or ERV) that transfer heat and moisture between incoming and outgoing air. Filtration improves air quality by removing particulates and some contaminants.

Ventilation applications span residential, commercial, and industrial settings, as well as transportation and specialized environments. Design considerations include air exchange rates (often measured in air changes per hour or ACH), indoor air quality targets, building airtightness, and energy use. Regular maintenance, including filter replacement and system inspections, is essential for performance and safety.
