When you browse a website, for instance, your browser (the client) sends a series of network queries to the web server hosting the site. These queries ask for HTML files, images, scripts, and other components that make up the webpage. Similarly, when an application on your phone needs to fetch data, it sends network queries to a remote server.

The content and format of these queries are governed by various protocols. The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is commonly used for web requests, while protocols like DNS (Domain Name System) are used to translate human-readable domain names into machine-readable IP addresses. The underlying transport mechanisms, such as TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol), ensure that these requests and their corresponding responses are reliably transmitted across the network.
