Vävnadsomvandling, a Swedish term, translates to tissue conversion or tissue transformation. It refers to a biological process where one type of tissue changes into another. This phenomenon is a fundamental aspect of development, adaptation, and repair in multicellular organisms.

During embryonic development, vävnadsomvandling is crucial for differentiation. For instance, undifferentiated cells transform into specialized cell types like muscle, nerve, or bone tissue. This controlled process is orchestrated by complex genetic and molecular signals.
