vänsterhjärtat
Vänsterhjärtat refers to the left side of the heart. This side of the heart is responsible for pumping oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. It consists of the left atrium and the left ventricle. The left atrium receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs via the pulmonary veins. From the left atrium, the blood flows into the left ventricle. The left ventricle is the strongest and thickest chamber of the heart due to the high pressure required to pump blood throughout the systemic circulation. When the left ventricle contracts, it pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta, the body's largest artery, from which it is distributed to all organs and tissues. Conditions affecting the vänsterhjärtat can have significant impacts on overall health, including heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases.
