Välkõrgete is an Estonian term that translates to "lightning strike" or "flash high" in English. It is often used to describe a sudden, intense burst of light, typically associated with thunderstorms. The phenomenon is caused by a massive electrical discharge within a cloud, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground. This discharge heats the air to extremely high temperatures very rapidly, causing it to expand explosively and produce a bright flash.
