Väljatugevus is an Estonian term that translates to "field strength" or "field intensity" in English, and it refers to the magnitude of a force field at a specific point in space. This concept is fundamental in physics and is applied to various types of fields, most notably electric and magnetic fields.

In electromagnetism, väljatugevus quantifies the strength and direction of an electric field (often denoted as E) or a magnetic field (often denoted as B). An electric field is generated by electric charges and exerts a force on other charges. The electric väljatugevus at a point is defined as the electric force per unit positive charge that would be experienced at that point. It is typically measured in volts per meter (V/m) or newtons per coulomb (N/C).

Similarly, a magnetic field is produced by moving electric charges or magnetic dipoles and influences magnetic materials and moving charges. The magnetic väljatugevus, or magnetic flux density, at a point describes the strength of the magnetic field. It is measured in units of teslas (T) or gauss (G).
