Välismikromeeter, also known as an outside micrometer, is a precision measuring instrument used to determine the external dimension of an object. It is a type of micrometer caliper, which utilizes a spindle and an anvil to measure the distance between two opposing surfaces. The device consists of a calibrated scale, a thimble, and a sleeve. The thimble, which rotates along the sleeve, is marked with fine divisions representing hundredths or thousandths of a millimeter or inch. The sleeve contains the main scale, indicating whole millimeters or inches.
