vuông

Vuông is a Vietnamese term that functions as both an adjective and a noun. In everyday language it describes a square or square-shaped object; in mathematics it denotes the geometric shape known in English as a square, written as hinh vuong in Vietnamese. The phrase hinh vuong refers to a regular quadrilateral with four equal sides and four right angles. Vuong is also used in units of area, most commonly met vuong (square meter) and km vuong (square kilometer).

In geometry, a square with side length a has perimeter 4a and area a^2. Its diagonal measures a√2. A square possesses four lines of symmetry and four-fold rotational symmetry; the diagonals are perpendicular and bisect each other as well as the vertex angles.

Usage and context: Square shapes appear in architecture, urban planning, and design, where tiling with square tiles is common.
