Volumeuitrekking is a term found in Dutch-language technical and scientific texts that translates roughly as "volume stretching" or "volume extension." It is not a single, widely established concept in English-language scholarship, and its meaning depends on the domain. In acoustics and audio engineering, volume-uitrekking may refer to a controlled increase of loudness over a period, often implemented as a volume ramp or fade, or to an expansion of a signal's dynamic range to improve expressiveness or intelligibility. In practice, it involves manipulating gain on a timeline while preserving the perceived quality.

In materials science and solid mechanics, the term can describe how the physical volume of a material changes when it is stretched or deformed. For uniaxial tension of a homogeneous sample, the volume change is governed by the material's compressibility; perfectly incompressible materials conserve volume (dV=0), while real materials may exhibit small volume changes due to microstructural effects and temperature. The concept is relevant when analyzing deformation processes, rubber elasticity, or polymer stretching, where the relation between strain and change in volume is considered.

In economics or data storage contexts, some Dutch texts use the term metaphorically to denote expansion of capacity or scale, such as increasing the usable volume of a system or dataset, though this usage is less standardized.
