Voima-analyysit, known in English as force analysis, is a fundamental concept in physics and engineering that deals with the study of forces acting on an object or system. The primary goal of a force analysis is to understand the net effect of all applied forces, which determines the object's motion or equilibrium. This involves identifying all relevant forces, such as gravity, friction, tension, applied pushes or pulls, and electromagnetic forces.

The process typically begins with identifying the object of interest and its surroundings. Then, a free-body diagram is constructed, which is a graphical representation showing the object as a point and all forces acting upon it as vectors originating from that point. Newton's laws of motion are central to force analysis. Specifically, Newton's first law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Newton's second law, F=ma, quantifies the relationship between the net force acting on an object, its mass, and its acceleration. Newton's third law, that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, is also crucial when considering forces between interacting objects.

By resolving forces into their components, often along orthogonal axes, engineers and physicists can calculate the resultant force. This resultant force can then be used to predict acceleration, determine if an object will move, or if it is in a state of static or dynamic equilibrium. Applications of force analysis are vast, ranging from designing bridges and aircraft to understanding the biomechanics of human movement and the dynamics of celestial bodies.
