Vingflöde is a Swedish term that translates to "wing flow" or "wing current." It refers to the aerodynamic phenomenon of airflow over an aircraft wing. Understanding vingflöde is crucial for aircraft design, as it directly influences lift generation, drag, and overall flight stability.

When an aircraft wing moves through the air, the air molecules encounter the wing's leading edge. Due to the wing's shape, often an airfoil, the air traveling over the upper surface must travel a slightly longer distance than the air traveling underneath. This difference in path length, combined with the wing's angle of attack, causes the air above the wing to accelerate. According to Bernoulli's principle, faster-moving air exerts lower pressure. Consequently, the pressure above the wing becomes lower than the pressure below the wing. This pressure differential creates an upward force known as lift, which counteracts gravity and allows the aircraft to fly.

The nature of vingflöde can vary significantly depending on factors such as the wing's shape (airfoil profile), its angle relative to the oncoming air (angle of attack), airspeed, and air density.
