Vesisäiliö, or water tank, is a container used to store water for domestic, agricultural, or industrial use. It may be above-ground or underground and can draw water from rain, municipal supply, or other sources. In homes, rooftop or pressurized tanks are common; large facilities use bulk storage tanks or underground reservoirs.

Materials include steel, concrete, fiberglass, and high-density polyethylene. Metal tanks may require coatings to resist corrosion; plastic tanks are lightweight and UV-stable when treated. Insulated cylinders are used in hot-water systems to reduce heat loss.

Capacities range from tens of litres in households to thousands of cubic metres in industrial settings. Uses include potable storage, rainwater harvesting for irrigation, emergency reserves, and fire protection in some installations.

Installation considerations include accessible locations, protection from contamination, proper venting, and compliance with local regulations. In potable systems, correct pipe materials and fittings help avoid contamination.

Maintenance involves periodic inspection for leaks, interior cleaning or disinfection for drinking water, sealing checks, and ensuring lids remain secure. For rainwater, filtration may reduce sediment and biological growth.
