Vesekiválasztási, a Hungarian term, translates to "kidney excretion" or "renal excretion" in English. It refers to the physiological process by which the kidneys filter waste products and excess substances from the blood and eliminate them from the body in the form of urine. This crucial function is essential for maintaining homeostasis, the stable internal environment of the body.

The kidneys perform several key roles in excretion. They filter large volumes of blood daily, removing metabolic byproducts such as urea, creatinine, and uric acid. In addition, they regulate the balance of electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and chloride, as well as water, thereby controlling blood pressure and fluid volume. Hormonal regulation also plays a part, with kidneys producing hormones like erythropoietin, which stimulates red blood cell production, and renin, which is involved in blood pressure control.

The process of vesekiválasztási involves filtration in the glomerulus, reabsorption of essential substances back into the bloodstream in the renal tubules, and secretion of additional waste products from the blood into the tubules. The final product, urine, then travels through the ureters to the bladder for storage and eventual elimination from the body through the urethra. Impairment of vesekiválasztási can lead to a buildup of toxins in the body, electrolyte imbalances, and other serious health consequences.
