Common usage and alternatives: verreisen is frequently used interchangeably with phrases like eine Reise antreten or auf Reisen gehen, and with specific destinations introduced by nach/ins/in den Urlaub fahren. The form vereisen may appear in older texts, dialectal usage, or as a misspelling or confusion with verreisen; in standard modern German it is not the accepted form.
