ventrikkelsammentrekningen
Ventrikkelsammentrekningen refers to the contraction of the ventricles of the heart. The ventricles are the two lower chambers of the heart, responsible for pumping blood out to the lungs and the rest of the body. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the body, while the right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs. This contraction, also known as systole, is a crucial part of the cardiac cycle. It occurs after the atria have contracted and filled the ventricles with blood. The coordinated electrical impulses cause the muscular walls of the ventricles to squeeze, increasing the pressure within the chambers. This pressure forces the atrioventricular valves (mitral and tricuspid) to close, preventing backflow into the atria, and simultaneously opens the semilunar valves (aortic and pulmonary), allowing blood to be ejected into the aorta and pulmonary artery respectively. The force and efficiency of ventricular contraction are vital for maintaining adequate blood circulation and delivering oxygen and nutrients to all tissues. Issues with ventricular contraction can lead to various cardiovascular problems.
