Vaststel is a term used in speculative cosmology and science fiction to denote a hypothetical large-scale arrangement of luminous matter that spans a substantial portion of a galaxy. It is not a realized astrophysical object and has no consensus definition in mainstream science.

The concept envisions a network of stars, remnants, and interstellar material organized into a lattice, sheet, or filamentary structure. Proposed forms range from crystalline networks of star clusters to shell-like or grid-like configurations surrounding galactic regions.

Two broad classes of origin are discussed: natural dynamics and engineered construction. In natural scenarios, long-term gravitational evolution in dense environments could rearrange matter into extended, coherent patterns.
