Varmistimet is a Finnish term that translates to "fuses" in English. In electrical engineering, a fuse is a safety device that operates to provide overcurrent protection of an electrical circuit. Its essential component is a metal wire or filament, that provides a weak link and melts or blows when an excessive current flows through it. This interrupts the current flow and prevents damage to connected equipment or potential fire hazards.
