Valtiovarainministeriö, commonly abbreviated VM, is the Ministry of Finance of Finland. It is a government ministry responsible for guiding the country’s economic and financial policy, preparing the state budget and monitoring public finances, and coordinating taxation policy and financial regulation.

Among its core tasks are macroeconomic policy, budget planning, and the management of the central government’s accounts. The ministry also handles state ownership and the governance of government‑owned enterprises, and it coordinates international economic policy and EU‑related financial matters.
