védjegynyilvántartás is the Hungarian term for trademark registration. It is the legal process by which an owner of a brand name, logo, or slogan can secure exclusive rights to use that mark in connection with specific goods or services. In Hungary, this process is managed by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (Magyar Szabadalmi Hivatal).

The purpose ofvédjegynyilvántartás is to prevent others from using identical or confusingly similar marks for similar products or services, thereby protecting the brand owner's reputation and preventing consumer confusion. Obtaining a registered trademark provides legal grounds to take action against infringers.

The registration process typically involves several steps. First, an application must be filed with the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, detailing the mark itself and the list of goods and services for which protection is sought. A search is then conducted to ensure the mark is not already registered or confusingly similar to existing trademarks. If the mark passes this examination, it is published for opposition, allowing third parties to object if they believe it infringes their rights.
