vägförvaltningen
Vägförvaltningen is a term used for the government authority responsible for the road network in Sweden. Historically it referred to the state body Vägverket, which handled national road planning, construction, operation, maintenance and related traffic management. Since 2009, the role has been fulfilled by Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, which was formed by merging Vägverket with Banverket (the rail administration). In common usage, vägförvaltningen denotes the national level of road management, while local roads are typically managed by municipalities.
