uttaksplaner

Uttaksplaner is a term used in the Norwegian parental leave system to describe the planned distribution of foreldrepenger (parental benefits) between parents. The plan outlines how many days each parent will take, when the leave will be taken, and whether part of the leave will be spent while working or at reduced hours. It is prepared within NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) and serves as a basis for approving and administering the parental benefit period.

A typical uttaksplan details the allocation of days between the parents and may include reserved quotas and shared days. In the Norwegian scheme there are provisions for specific quotas that are allotted to one parent (such as a mother’s quota and a father’s quota) as well as a pool of days that can be shared between the parents. The plan therefore governs how the leave time is distributed during the first years of the child’s life and how benefits are earned and paid.

The plan is usually prepared around the time of birth or adoption and must be submitted to NAV for approval. It can often be adjusted during the leave period, provided both parents agree or circumstances require NAV intervention. The uttaksplan is binding for the duration of the benefit period and influences entitlement, scheduling, and continuation of benefits, as well as job protection and return-to-work planning.
