The urogenital system, also known as the genitourinary system, is a collective term for the organs involved in excretion and reproduction. It comprises the urinary tract and the reproductive tract. The urinary tract is responsible for producing, storing, and eliminating urine. It includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The kidneys filter waste products from the blood, producing urine. The ureters transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder, where it is stored. The urethra is a tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body.

The reproductive tract is responsible for producing gametes (sperm and eggs) and for reproduction. In males, it includes the testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, and penis. The testes produce sperm and male hormones. The other structures are involved in sperm maturation, storage, and transport, as well as the production of seminal fluid. In females, it includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina. The ovaries produce eggs and female hormones. The fallopian tubes transport eggs to the uterus, where a fertilized egg can implant and develop. The cervix connects the uterus to the vagina, which serves as the birth canal and receives sperm during intercourse. The urinary and reproductive tracts share some structures, particularly the urethra, which in males serves both functions, although the ducts are separate internally.
