Urineopslag refers to the biological process by which urine is stored in the body before it is eliminated through urination. This function is primarily carried out by the bladder, a hollow, muscular organ located in the pelvis. The bladder is capable of expanding to accommodate varying volumes of urine produced by the kidneys.

The process of urineopslag is regulated by a complex interplay of the nervous system and the muscular walls of the bladder. As the bladder fills, stretch receptors in its walls send signals to the brain, indicating the need to urinate. This sensation typically becomes more pronounced as the bladder reaches its capacity.
