Ureaseactiviteit refers to the enzymatic activity of urease, an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. In microorganisms, urease activity plays a crucial role in nutrient cycling, particularly in the nitrogen cycle, by releasing ammonia which can then be utilized by other organisms.
