Unenlaulut is a type of traditional Finnish musical instrument, specifically a class of medieval stringed instruments belonging to the harp family. The name "unenlaulut" directly translates to "dream songs" or "dream instruments" in Finnish, which reflects their ethereal and enchanting sound.

In terms of construction, unenlaulut resemble a cross between a harp and a lyre, although they often feature only four or five strings. These instruments were typically played by plucking the strings with the fingers or with a plectrum, producing a soft and melodic sound.

Historically, unenlaulut date back to the medieval period in Finland and Sweden, where they were played by traveling minstrels and musicians known as "vihuela" musicians. These instruments were used to accompany both secular and sacred music, including folk songs, ballads, and liturgical chants.
