Ulysses is the Latin form of Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca and the central figure in Homer’s Odyssey. The name denotes a cunning and resourceful hero whose decade-long journey home after the Trojan War includes encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, Circe, the Sirens, and the dangers of Scylla and Charybdis. In classical literature, Ulysses represents the archetype of the wise but wily strategist whose trials test endurance, leadership, and fidelity.
