Ultrahening is a term used in speculative physics and science fiction to denote a hypothetical regime in which a physical system exhibits extreme suppression of energy dissipation and decoherence, allowing coherent dynamics to persist far longer than in conventional settings.

The term is not widely adopted in mainstream physics and is primarily found in theoretical discussions and speculative literature from the late 21st century. It is described as a state or condition rather than a concrete material phase.

In proposed models, ultrahening arises when a system couples to an ultraharmonic field or constraint that enforces specific symmetries, thereby reducing the number of open dissipative pathways. Realization is thought to require near-perfect isolation, precise control of interactions, and extreme stability, and remains purely theoretical.

If achievable, ultrahening could enable longer-lived quantum coherence for computation and sensing, and could inspire new materials with suppressed dissipation. Researchers emphasize that practical demonstrations would face substantial technical hurdles and may only apply to limited systems.
