It is attributed to the Uhriensa, a coastal people inhabiting the archipelago of Lirenn in the northern sea. The term is also used for the oral and ritual traditions surrounding the language. In the lore, Uhriensa functions as both a practical means of daily communication and a liturgical language for rites of passage and voyage ceremonies.

According to the legend, the name combines roots meaning water and speech, reflecting the community's seafaring identity.
