Táplálékháló is the Hungarian term for a food web. A food web is a graphical representation of the feeding relationships between different organisms in a particular ecosystem. It illustrates how energy flows through an ecosystem, showing which organisms are eaten by others. Unlike a food chain, which depicts a single linear sequence of energy transfer, a food web is a more complex and realistic model because it acknowledges that most organisms have multiple food sources and are preyed upon by more than one type of predator.

The components of a food web are typically categorized into producers, consumers, and decomposers. Producers, usually plants or other photosynthetic organisms, form the base of the food web, converting sunlight into energy. Primary consumers are herbivores that feed on producers. Secondary consumers are carnivores or omnivores that eat primary consumers. Tertiary consumers are at the top of the food web, preying on secondary consumers. Decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, break down dead organic matter from all trophic levels, returning nutrients to the ecosystem, which are then used by producers.

Understanding food webs is crucial for ecological studies. They help scientists analyze the impact of changes in one population on other species within the ecosystem, such as the introduction of an invasive species, the removal of a predator, or environmental disturbances.
